The panelists from Malaysia and Canada will explore the idea of the senses of place in arts through the method of \u201ccultural mapping\u201d from their respective perspectives. She conducts training in cultural mapping and community engagement for artists, cultural workers and NGOs in Southeast Asian countries, while also servicing&nbsp;organisations such as UNESCO Bangkok, APCIEU Korea, THINKCITY Malaysia and Getty Foundation USA as a resource person. Pillai has also authored several books, articles and on-line resources on the subject of arts education and socially engaged arts practice in Southeast Asia.&nbsp;&nbsp;\u3000<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:55px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Lana Tran<br>A Multicentered Home: Creative Approaches to \u201cSenses of\u00a0Place\u201d in the City<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/ga-beta.geidai.ac.jp\/info\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Lana_Photo.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11453\" width=\"196\" height=\"196\" srcset=\"https:\/\/geidai-ga.warpjapan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Lana_Photo.png 902w, https:\/\/geidai-ga.warpjapan.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Lana_Photo-300x300.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 196px) 100vw, 196px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Born in Toronto; Based in Tokyo since 2011. Lana Tran is a&nbsp;doctoral student and Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholar in Art Studies&nbsp;and Curatorial Practices at Tokyo University of the Arts. After&nbsp;developing arts exhibitions and intercultural programs in urban&nbsp;environments with the artist-led centre 3331 Arts Chiyoda (Tokyo),Lana attained a Master of Museum Studies from the University of&nbsp;Toronto in 2019.&nbsp;Her current research considers how place-based heritage and memory is&nbsp;collected, archived and (re)presented in contemporary Japanese art&nbsp;projects.
