\n for the Arts Industry Today<\/span><\/h2>\n

In the course compulsory to all the GA first year students, \u201cIntroduction to Art and Culture in the Global Age\u201d, we will invite Mr Miguel Sosa, Researcher in Music and in Multiple Intelligences in Liberal Arts Education and Lecturer at the Akita International University, to deliver a lecture in English entitled \u201cSeven Ideas from Leonardo da Vinci for the Arts Industry Today\u201d. Following the 90 minute lecture in English, a discussion session will be held in Japanese by a moderator, Professor Akitoshi Edagawa, Mr Sosa and the audience. Auditors from other Departments are all welcome.<\/p>\n

Lecture Abstract:<\/strong>
\n“Seven Ideas from Leonardo da Vinci for the Arts Industry Today”
\nIn his diaries, Leonardo da Vinci described seven principles for developing an \u201ceducated, humanistic mind.\u201d The principles are: Curiosita (curiosity), Dimonstrazione (demonstration and research), Sensazione (development of the senses), Sfumato (flexibility), Arte e Scienza (art and science), and Connessione (connecting).
\nThe study of these principles reminds us of an important goal for art project managers, curators, music managers, facilitators and art-related researchers: the role of developing awareness of the interconnectedness among all disciplines. This presentation is designed to encourage art industry professionals to promote the development of three key areas: Communication, study of Creativity and Life-long learning.
\n(Miguel Sosa)<\/p>\n

Profile:<\/strong>
\nMiguel Sosa<\/strong>
\nBorn in Bogota, Colombia. In 1985, he moved to Canada where he taught at the University of Ottawa, and worked as Music Director of the Music Nepean Symphony School. In 1995, Miguel Sosa moved to Japan to conduct research in Ear Training at Tokyo University of the Arts. Other research interests in music include music for piano four-hands and has recorded 2 CD\u2019s of that particular repertoire.
\nIn addition to his career in music, Mr. Sosa studied Applied Linguistics at Columbia University of New York. His research interests include the study of Multiple Intelligences within the context of Liberal Arts Education. Miguel Sosa is co-author of the book Respite for Teachers<\/em> (Michigan Press University, 2007). He has taught English at International Christian University, Keio University. Currently, Mr. Sosa is a member of the faculty at Akita International University as well as the School of Professional Studies, New York University, Tokyo Campus.<\/p>\n
