An exhibition curated by 5 graduate students majoring in curation of GA and 2 graduate students majoring in architecture will be held, as a part of Professor Yuko Hasegawa’s course “Arts Studies and Curatorial Practices Seminar”, from March 21 to April 8, at Chinretsukan Gallery, Tokyo University of the Arts. To celebrate the opening of the show, a welcoming reception will be held on March 20 from 17:00 at Oura Restaurant, Department of Fine Arts, Ueno Campus. For both, no reservations required, admission free. All welcome.<\/p>\n

INTRODUCTION
\nWith problems occurring and new values emerging every day, this contemporary world demands survivors with a certain sensitivity and the ability to adapt these changes in a free and flexible manner.
\nPLAY is a practice that invites us to enter heterotopia, a space that could release us from the rules and conventions of the real world, thereby allowing us to experience another world while staying in the real world.
\nThis exhibition introduces 9 artists, both upcoming and established, of which some have not yet been widely introduced in Japan. The playful space that is produced through various ways of expression, such as painting, sculpture and graffiti, reintroduces visitors to the power that can effortlessly transforms the weight of a situation; “Power of PLAY”.
\nThe title of this exhibition, “Pn -Powers of PLAY-“, is derived from the word “PLAY”. The letter P also suggests “Practice”, “Pleasure”, “Pop”, etc. We hope visitors’ imagination can be triggered to enjoy the word play of P freely.<\/p>\n
