本オンライン美術館は、多文化社会へのアプローチとして３つの展示部門（ゲストアーティスト／公募展／活動展示）と、市民メンバーである「IMM ねいばーず」（旧：IMM Project Member）の活動紹介、アンディ館長によるブログ、そして本事業にまつわる情報を集めたライブラリで構成されています。

From December 5, 2020 to March 14, 2021, Immigration Museum Tokyo has opened an online art museum to present perspectives on multicultural society in contemporary Japan.

The museum’s approach consists of three exhibition sections (Guest Artists, Open Exhibitions, and Active Exhibitions), an introduction to the activities of citizen member Neighbors, a blog by Director Andy, and a library of information related to the project.

イミグレーション・ミュージアム・東京（IMM）とは
地域に居住する外国人との交流を通して企画されるアートプロジェクト。地域に暮らすニューカマーの生活様式や文化背景を紹介するとともに、それが日常の中で変容していく諸相を「適応」「保持」「融合」という3つのキーワードから探ります。

1990年より国内および欧州、豪州、東南アジアの特定コミュニティの調査をもとに、映像、音響、テキストなどを複合的に使用した視覚表現を展開。近年はあらゆる世代を対象にしたワークショップや、多文化研究活動を並行して実施中。秋田公立美術大学教授、東京藝術大学非常勤講師。

Immigration Museum Tokyo
Immigration Museum Tokyo uses the methodology of contemporary art to create collective works of art inspired by the accounts of local non-Japanese residents living in Japan. The ultimate goal of the project is to create a new type of a museum to present this collection of work. The project revolves around artist Shigeaki Iwai and unfolds through diverse, independent exhibitions and activities.

Iwai has continued to produce a variety of visual expressions that are composites of video, sound and text based on his research of specific communities in Japan, as well as in Europe, Australia and South East Asia which he began conducting in 1990. In recent years, alongside these activities, he has been hosting workshops for all generations and conducting research on multiculturalism. Professor – Akita University of Art, lecturer – Tokyo University of the Arts Musical Creativity and the Environment.
